It’s a wonder that despite being in this exclusive club Priyanka has taken a shot at being an international music icon. Parineeti is perky that her bestie has finally taken the plunge. “I’m glad that she did it before anyone else. Now even if other Indian stars go and do the same it won’t be as big as her. She is the pioneer. She has been that sort of a person. When Aitraaz came her way she changed the game. Priyanka really knows how to grab an opportunity. She swept most of the awards and established herself right then and there.” She tells me that she can’t think of one film where Piggy Chops was just part of the scenery. “She does roles like Barfi where she doesn’t look as glamorous as she did in say Dostana. She’s driven. When I tell her, ‘Remember how that person did it?’ she turns around and says, ‘If that person did it why should I?’ That’s why she’s so successful.”
Parineeti can’t believe Priyanka is turning 30 this year. She says she has to pinch herself to believe that. “We have to tell ourselves she is 30. Even if five or ten years from now she doesn’t want to act she’ll find something to do. That’s how she is.”
A little bird has told us that Parineeti herself is a trained musician and biding her time to cut her own album. She admits that singing was always her first love. “Acting just fell into place. Bachpan se I wanted to sing on stage. And I have sung on stage with my dad. During our childhood when our fathers used to sing Priyanka and I joined them. If I get a chance to sing cause I’m an actress now I’ll take it.” I pack-up and leave before she goes into karaoke mood and asks me to do a duet. But I know it would be fun to have both the sisters crooning together in an interview.
